  1. Yeah my pleasure! If you have questions about applying once places start opening up feel free to message me ?
  2. I didn’t get the temporary one! Hopkins told me not to bother getting it since I’m from a compact state! I just applied by endorsement to Maryland and then gave hopkins my VA license info. I think technically you’re only supposed to have a MD license within 90 days but with covid I don’t think it’s going to happen. I started the process as soon as I could so it wasn’t something I had to worry about later but you do have a pretty big window to get it done!
  3. If you’re coming for a compact state there isn’t a huge rush to get the endorsement application in, especially with covid. I applied back in February and my application for Maryland is still pending.... I’m just practicing on my Virginia license and it hasn’t been an issue! If you’re worried just email nurse recruitment to confirm that this info is accurate for your situation!
  4. I can’t speak to Locust Point but I live in Canton and absolutely love it. I would say it’s a very similar vibe to Fells point in terms of safety, walkability, and things to do. I really cared about being close to work (10 min drive), close to bars/restaurants, and being able to feel safe walking to shops and I feel like I got all of those things in Canton. Most of my friends that work at Hopkins either live in Canton or Fells so I think it’s a popular place for new grads. My sister has lived in downtown for 2 years and is planning to move because of she doesn’t feel safe walking around so I wouldn’t recommend it based on her experience. If you want more specific info feel free to message me! ?
  5. If you have specific neighborhoods in mind there are facebook groups to find roommates! I found one of my roommates through the canton one. Most people also post what type of work they do so you can easily find Hopkins new grads like that!
  6. Honestly I would expect to pay more than that, especially if you want to be in one of the safer neighborhoods (canton, fells point, fed hill, etc). For reference I live in a three bedroom apartment in one of the nicer areas and it’s $2600/month with only garbage included. We also toured row houses that were $2200-2600 depending on how good the area was. I only know of one place that was in the price point but it’s technically student housing for Hopkins university and way smaller than my current apartment.
  7. I was just there for onboarding and the nurse recruitment phone was ringing off the hook so it might be slower than normal with the virus causing so many changes. I wouldn’t freak out yet!! IDK what unit you’re applying to but I’d be happy to send you my application documents if you think that’d be helpful!
  8. They told everyone at my interview (we were all coming from compact states) to apply to our home state and then endorse to MD after we passed. I know 2 of us did that and 1 didn’t, the one who didn’t still didn’t have her ATT at the start of Feb, I got mine in early Jan. The process to endorse to MD is slow but at least I know I can practice under my VA license and there’s no added stress of waiting to test!
  9. When I applied to the nicu the job title was “New Graduate Registered Nurse - Pediatric Neonatal Intensive Care Unit” and listed JHH specifically as the location. I graduated in December so I didn’t see it listed until the beginning of October just to give you a rough idea of timing!
  10. I haven’t gotten anything yet either! I know the deadline list had the earliest date to get that done as the last week of February so I’m not super stressed! My roommates are starting earlier and they said they got it within the window the deadline sheet gave!
  11. I start the first week of April but other people I’ve talked to who got different units are starting in March. I don’t think they were done interviewing people when they called me because they mentioned interviews were happening for the next few weeks but I’m not 100% sure!
  12. I interviewed on a Tuesday and got a call from the unit manager that Thursday offering the job. I got a written offer from HR about a week after I accepted it with the unit manager.
  13. I didn’t ask a ton to the managers/charge bc I just kinda blanked on what to ask lol but when I was on the floor with one nurse it was a lot easier to ask questions. I asked about how long she’d been working there, what the turnover is like, best parts of working there vs worst.
  14. They asked me the usual interview/behavioral questions you find online. They also wanted a specific example for each question of what you actually did. Only ones that threw me off were when they asked for a time I gave bad patient care and a time I’ve made a mistake in a clinical setting. Also during the share time with a floor nurse don’t get too casual. When the nurse I was with brought me back to the office she was handed an evaluation form for me so it’s just as much of an interview as the sit down portion! Good luck!!
