  1. Hey guys! I’m in the Worcester campus, also graduating in December and couldn’t agree more with my Boston friend. This whole program, despite the MASSIVE cost of tuition, is no where near what I expected. Lack of communication and expectations, lack of structure, it really at some point made me question my decision to be a nurse. I also agree that the Worcester professors are much more clear with their instructing than Boston but I’m not sure if that will stay that way. I believe they are converting to a multi-professor mode of teaching. Professor Cabrera has been the greatest professor at this program and you will learn the most from her. She is the silver lining at MCPHS. I 100% agree with what was said above in that if you have options, choose elsewhere. This program is decent if you don’t really care how much you’re going to be in debt and just need the degree. If you’re looking for a memorable experience with great clinicals, amazing professors and leadership (though they did indeed switch Deans and the new Dean seems to be much better), and an overal good time - this unfortunately isn’t the school to be in.
  2. Well, right now everything is completely online. No labs or clinical sessions, which is really sad because it's extremely difficult learning how to care for a newborn baby via a computer screen. But, it's a world-wide issue, so you take what you can get.. Let me be sure I start this out by saying this all applies to the Worcester campus. I don't know anything about Boston, and their students may be having the time of their life at MCPHS. If you asked me if I recommended this program/school prior to COVID, I'd tell you absolutely not. But considering every school is online right now, it is what it is. You don't get nearly enough for the price you pay. And now that we're learning everything through a computer screen and are paying the same amount, it's even worse. The program lacks communication between professors/administration, it lacks organization and structure. They expect you to be in 12 places at once. When I started this program, they were in the middle of a curriculum change, and it really ruined my experience at this school. We were guinea pigs to the new process, instructors were learning everything for the first time with us. Scheduling clinical sessions was a nightmare. It was just very very difficult. They will tell you if you have a job, quit it, as this program should be your priority, however, that is simply unrealistic in the economy we're in. If it works for you, great, MCPHS is the school for you. Otherwise, be prepared to get 10 different schedules in one semester and be prepared for change whenever they deem necessary. They preach how high-tech and great their lab and simulation equipment is, however, I can't tell you a single time I went into the lab where we did not have malfunctioning/lack of quipment. Pumps never worked, mannequins rarely did what they were set up to do, a lot of the work you do in the lab is imaginative. So, again, if you're expecting to get what you are paying for, this probably isn't a good start. If you don't care how you get it and you simply just want the degree at the end of the day, then that's a different story.
  3. Hi I'm in the Worcester program right now and I figured I'd give some feedback in this forum because I remember how valuable allnurses help was to me when I was in the process of applying to nursing programs. If you guys have any questions, I can give you my email!
  4. So I just started this program in August. They decided to inform us of an entire curriculum change literally two days before orientation and after everyone submitted their deposit, so we are basically guinea pigs for a $70K program. Heres the thing with this new curriculum/program, if you can't teach yourself literally 75% of the content they dump on you, don't bother applying to this program. We only have one day of lecture for two classes, and two hours of lab on Wednesday and two hours of lab on Friday. You have to teach yourself 75% of the material and then you go to a 1.5 hour lecture and they try to cram as much info as possible in that short amount of time. For lab, its kinda ridiculous because they give you videos to watch at home/busy work in front of a screen before coming to lab, then you get to lab expecting some kind of demo considering you've never done anything on a plastic dummy, let alone another human, but theres no demo. No teaching. If you ask for a demo they scoff at you because you should have watched the video. We complained, and now they provide us with a 15 minute super rushed demo (some things you don't really need a demo for, i get it, but when they throw a foley catheter at you and then say okay go insert this and you have no idea WOW! you're doing, a demo could really help, also what else am I paying 70K for).... Due to this curriculum change, everyone (including the professors) is confused and kinda just going with the flow. We have one great professor and the other will tell you to "google it" if you ask her a question. Typical. The main takeaway, if you can't read/teach yourself basically everything on your own time, considering you're literally only in lecture once a week, this program isnt for you. I get they don't want to front-load anymore but people literally moved here because we were told we had class five days a week, and now we have lecture one day a week and lab on another day, so you have a lot of free time (which you'll need to teach yourself how to be a nurse).
  5. I appreciate all this so much! I feel like I’ll think of more questions as I go, can I email you?
  6. Hi! Do you mind giving some insight as for what class load is like first semester? What’s the schedule like?
  7. I accepted a program elsewhere so I hope that opens up another spot for one of y’all!
  8. Hi! I have so many questions lol, is there a way I can email you?
  9. The Rixey actually seems like a decent place to live, close to campus and about the same price as living in an off campus apartment. If anyone is interested, they have 2 bed 2 bath options that are a bit cheaper than living in a 1/1! Also, for anyone who already lives there or goes to school there, can you survive without a car? I'm debating if I should leave my car here and rely on the metro/shuttle...
  10. I've been looking in Arlington/Alexandria and even DC area but they all seem to be around the same price. DC seems a bit cheaper but the commute would be a bit longer
  11. I agree about the Facebook group! I looked at on campus housing and it seems more expensive than off campus apartments so I’m leaning towards that.
  12. Any girls here looking for a roommate either in DC or Arlington? Rent is INSANE compared to Florida
  13. I applied for the second review. Currently trying to figure out housing and financial aid because I got accepted to MCPHS as well and they seem to give more money, so i'm debating where to accept..
