  1. I appreciate this information! Thanks!
  2. I appreciate the sweet reply. I haven't yet enrolled and have been doing my due diligence before starting. I have had conversations with the school after posting this. They say its the same thing as a BSN they just use it interchangeably. There statistics are over 3 different states. I worry about them using accreditation as well. Their overall NCLEX pass rate (not first time) is 80% but that not just for Utah. Does accreditation look at overall or first time pass rate? haha if you know.
  3. If I had the grades to get into that type of school I would (: but I don't. So I got to do what I got to do.
  4. I don't have 100k laying around and it isn't going to cost that much. It will cost me 25k. Yes still pricey but not that much. I understand that their NCLEX pass rates aren't the greatest. I spent my first two years at university caught up in "partying" which greatly affected my grades. I went to a technical school for my LPN and was a 4.0 student. I have no options to continue my education except for these very pricey schools. I dug this grave unfortunately. But I have no greater desire than to be a Registered Nurse.
  5. I am currently a LPN and looking to continue my education. I found an accredited university but their program for bachelors is a BDN. Is there a difference? I tried googling differences but couldn't find any. Their RN-bachelors is BSN though? I am just wanting to make sure before enrolling that its not going to effect me? Thanks!
  6. The only think I would care about when researching schools to attending is 1) are they accredited? 2) What is their NCLEX pass rate? 3) What is their completion rate? As long as you go to an accredited school and pass the NCLEX - it doesn't really matter in my experience. Good luck!
  7. This is my plan. I just graduated from my LPN program in December. Waiting to take board but in the meantime I am finished prerequisites to eventually go onto my RN. Everyone has their own path. This was best for me. You'll have to decide what is best for you.
  8. I recently graduated from a LPN program and I am waiting to take my boards. My long term goal is to go back to school to get my bachelors and become a NICU nurse. I happened upon a job that I feel I could love but also makes me extremely nervous as a new graduate. Its with pediatric home health and hospice. I interviewed with them and they told me once I have a testing date they will hire me. I am nervous for several reasons. 1. I have never worked with ill children. 2. This would be my first job out of nursing school. 3. Being alone on the job as a new graduate. I also feel like this is a great opportunity for me to prepare me to work in my dream job in NICU. I guess I am just wanting opinions on whether or not this would be a safe position for all involved or if as a new graduate I should just go to a skilled nursing facility to develop my skills before expanding my patient demographic. Any input is appreciated! Thanks
  9. I just graduated from a practical nursing program and I am headed home to find a job and a place to live. In the mean time I was planning on living with my aunt & uncle and their 18 month old child until I can get a place of my own. They have asked in return that I babysit on my days off of work. I am totally fine with this but then it hit me today that they are refusing to vaccinate her. I am lined up with a job working as a home health and hospice nurse. I started to worry about the risk I might be putting on that little girl if I am around preventable diseases and then come home to take care of her. Is this more dangerous? I know if you are careful, wash your hands, wear PPE that it helps but does it put her at any risk? Thanks in advance.
  10. I know people are probably really tired of hearing about these posts but please bare with me. I have a horrible college GPA (2.520) which is why I decided to take the LPN route since it seems to be easier to get into. I got in and I am about to graduate. I have completely turned my academic life around and have passed with flying colors in my accelerated program. I really want to be a RN but I fear now that I wont have the opportunity to be since my GPA is SO low. I only have 3 prerequisites to take to qualify for the ADN program and about 6 for a BSN. Is there any hope? Should I just remain a LPN? I have a dream of working in PICU and know that I cannot do that as an LPN. Help???
  11. Hey all, So I am sure this has been posted before but I really would appreciate some feedback. I have always wanted to be a nurse. I started college as soon as I graduated and did a full year before taking a year off to do some volunteer work. After I finished with my Volunteer work (1 year) I went back to school. This time in a different state. I had originally planned to go back to my first college but then plans changed and I was attending a different school which required different prerequisites to their program. The 2 semesters at this University I had a really rough time. I had a lot of mental health issues and just was a mess. This obviously affected my schooling and I ended up doing not so hot in my courses. I passed but some of them only with a C and dropped my GPA to a 2.9. This has been hard on me since the program I was going to be applying to required B's or higher. I decided that the best way for me to "fix" this situation was to go to LPN school. I am currently at the end of my first Trimester (it is an accelerated 1 year program). I have done really well in this program so far. I know that I want to get my ADN and eventually get my BSN. I am worried though that I won't ever be able to bridge because of my low GPA and the grades I got in my last year at the University. I guess my question to you is... What are my options? Are there certain schools that guarantee entrance? What is your advice? xx Morgan
  12. There are a TON of LPN-RN programs in TN. I'm not sure about Memphis specifically. I'm in Knox area and there are 3 around me. Roane State, Pelissippi, Walter State. I know for a fact that Roane and Pelissippi are highly respected. There are several in Nashville area too.
