Preparing for CRNA

Published

Ok I did run into a few threads with similar questions that I am going to ask but I want to lay out my background and see if anyone can give me some pointers as to where to go from where I'm at in my career.

First off I have given this a lot of thought and CRNA is what I want to do. I have shadowed two crna's for a total of 50 hours and have came out of it feeling that is the direction I want my career to go. I love the autonomy that is involved with being a CRNA. My experience. I have been working as an RN since 2008. I have worked in medical surgical, ER, and ICU. I have only worked in ICU now for half a year. I started working in the ICU because I wanted to get some experience required for CRNA acceptance. I am enrolled in an advanced pathophysiology class for this fall which is a class that can be taken prior to getting into the program that I want. So my question is are there any texts that I could read whether it be an intro into anesthesia or even something more anatomy related. I have heard that studying the nervous system inside and out could be helpful. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
