Preceptor needed!!! Help!!!

I am in desperate need for a preceptor in the Knoxville/Powell area for ob/gyn, family practice, and pediatrics. I have to have paperwork submitted by April. First semester is fall of 2015 I think I can use either the ob/gyn or family practice because they see many of the same problems. Any suggestions. I am running out of options....

What have you tried so far?

The local NP association can be a good place to start. Your school may also have a list of providers in your area that have been preceptors in the past.

I also had some luck getting preceptors by just making a list out of the yellow pages and making in person cold calls. I would dress in something professional and have a copy of an abbreviated syllabus and very brief paragraph about myself along with contact information for myself and pertinent school faculty/staff. I would have multiple copies that I could leave with staff.

Don't be afraid to put yourself out there and to call in favors. Part of the benefit of arranging your own clinicals is that you can get started networking and getting to know other providers in the same area where you will probably be practicing.

Best of luck.
