So I'm doing the NCSBN $70 for 5 weeks. I came across this statement in the poison control module:
Just want to clarify, we DO NOT give Ipecac anymore to induce vomiting correct?
Also... if anyone is planning to buy the NCSBN learning extensions, please save your $. Rationales are poorly constructed. They also don't have a lot of information on each subject, also very vague and misleading. For example:
I don't think nurses are allowed to answer the client's questions about the procedure. All questions and clarifications should be directed to either the physician or the surgeon.
Nurses are only there to witness the informed consent.
Saunders would be a much better tool. I regret buying the 5 weeks instead of 3 weeks to test it out. I wish I could get a refund somehow

actually what they said was correct since they didnt state wat kind of poison it was. still in some cases you have to induce vomitting/lavage IN HOSPITAL SETTING. but if the question states that it happened somewhere else, nurses tell them to call the poison control number.
and as for informed consent, nurses do clarify and re-instate what the dr has said to the patient,in that way, we act as a nurse advocate when we re-instate the dr's statement to the patient. nurses also confirms the consent esp when actually undergoing clinical procedures.
