I'm a senior in high school and i hve to choose a major for college SOON!!! I'm stuck between nursing (LPN then hopefully RN) and early education teacher or special education teacher. I have a passion for helping people and I love putting others before me i'm just not sure what career i would enjoy the most. I want to stay active and have everyday be different. I'd love to hear advice from nurses about what it's like being nurse. Thank you :-) -Alexis

Hey Alexisjade!
So I can tell you that you should definitely consider going straight for the BSN-RN route. I dont say that to attack any LPNs because I think LPNs are awesome! I say that because hospitals are slowly stepping away from LPNs (at least in Michigan) and trying to hire all BSN-RNs only.
Secondly, I can tell you that if you like teaching, you will love nursing! Educating patients is one of the main scope of practices within the nursing realm!
I am a nursing student myself, so I cannot speak too largely on the actual nursing career just yet, but I can tell you that nursing is awesome! You always have opportunities to move around and grow if you feel that you are getting "bored." You can always continue your education as well and become and NP, CRNA, CNS, or Midwife!
It is a big decision having to decide what you want your career to be after high school, but if you are thinking about nursing, I would definitely go on youtube, contact some nurses, see if you can go job shadow someone... make sure its something that you like! And never base nursing off of one nurse or one unit, I have good and bad preceptors and Ive been on good and bad units, its all just dependent on what you enjoy!
