Phlebotomy

Published

Hi everyone my name is Crystal I've been a CNA for almost a year now! I went through a 4 month program that included All of our skills as required on the state boards and also Medical Terminology, some A&P and Care Plans(this was just to keep us busy) our teacher had been a EMT,a CNA and is now a RN and does MDS' in a LTC facility which is where we done our 50 hour clinicals! My question is I love being a CNA and caring for people no matter their age but I feel restless,I want to do more and I know how to do more but due to our scope of practice I don't dare,so I want to know what you all think of a CNA being certified in Phlebotomy? A good friend of mine says I might as well go into a practical nursing program but my math compass score is a few points below what's required and I have a child with cancer and a child with autism and a baby and I know that with nursing school you have no life except school and clinicals and my daughter is currently undergoing treatments at St.Jude and my children come first before all else but I want to do something else with my career now! I don't know what to do,I'm really interested in phlebotomy but would it be any different than being a CNA? My dream is to be a Pediatric Oncology Nurse! What do you all think? Any suggestions would be appreciated seeing as how I'm at a stand still in this part of my life! Thank you all in advance
