PDA's???

OK, I am totally clueless when it comes to stuff like this. I am starting school in August, and I read in another post that having a PDA would be a huge help during clinicals because I could download books onto it and carry it around with me during rounds rather than having to carry a bunch of heavy and cumbersome books. First and foremost, is that indeed a capability of a PDA -- downloading the text of a book? Like I said, I am totally clueless when it comes to stuff like this. Second, how many people here have PDAs, what has been your experiences with them, is their a monthly fee to operate them, which ones would you recommend, et cetera? Thanks in advance for your advice. I appreciate it.

I just wanted to let you know that there is a board called PDA's and Nursing, and it has many different threads pertaining to these devices.

thanks for your help!

PDAs are great. My program required that we have one and while we all comlained about the cost at first, they turned out to be a wonderful tool for all of us. I was able to just take that to clinicals and didn't have to lug around 3 or 4 books. I have several books installed in mine including, a drug guide, taber's, rn labs and rn diseases. I highly recommended purchasing one.
