PACU scheduling

Hello!

I am looking into changing the way we do scheduling in my PACU. Does anyone have any experience with self-scheduling for a staggered shift unit? We need the bulk of nurses from 9 to 5 of course, but I'd also like to incorporate more 10 and 12hr shifts instead of the 8s. The goal is more control over your own schedule and creating the ability of being able to plan vacations or days off without too much disruption.

Any advice?

Thanks,

Lola Shea

Try offering 10's with the day of the week that rotates..example, week 1 you have Tues off, working MWThF; week 2, Wed off, working MTThF and so on...every fourth week you get a four-day weekend. It's rather nice and I loved it when that was my schedule.
