I am interviewing for a PACU residency position on Monday - it will be a group interview. I've been a nurse for a few years on a stepdown/surgical telemetry unit. I'm pretty comfortable with the interviewing process, usually interview well and have an interview outfit/portfolio ready. However, since I'm new to PACU, does anyone have any suggestions for PACU-specific questions to be prepared for? The residency is designed for nurses without prior PACU experience. Thanks in advance!

The most important thing is to be yourself. Your preparation should focus on behavioral based interview questions. Remember to state what action you took, the response, and the outcome. With your tele experience focus on deterioration in the patient condition, nurse autonomy, and critical thinking skills. PACU is much like an ICU. Although anesthesiology general governs the care of the PACU patient nurses have to be comfortable with making split second decisions regarding the patient's care.
Thank you! I ended up being offered the PACU residency position. ?
