So I work in an outpatient Chemo Infusion center. It is just myself, one other nurse who recently found out she is pregnant and another nurse who is on her way out to retirement. The situation is getting increasingly stressful by the day and it looks like I have no hope of the practice hiring an extra nurse to help me out. The pregnant nurse is not able to do much considering we work with Chemo and the retiring nurse has just about checked out at this point. So, I have considered leaving where I am at and seeking a new job at another clinic. I am curious, what kinds of benefits other nurses receive in the outpatient setting. I should also mention that I am a nurse in CA and the state passed a law last year requiring all employers to supply a minimum of 3 days of sick leave per year. So, my two weeks of PTO per year has now changed to 3 days of sick leave per year (of course the bare minimum they are legally required to provide) and 7 days of PTO per year. So, I got personal time taken away to account for sick time and it decreased my accrual rate. My accrual rate is .027 hours per hour worked. I started accruing in January (after my 6 month probation period). And I currently have a whopping .6 hours to my name of PTO! My three days of sick leave are all but gone thanks to having a toddler in preschool and the wonderful stomach flu making its rounds through his school. I get the following paid holidays off:

Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day
Day after Thanksgiving
Christmas Day
With how slow our accrual rate is, I literally wouldn't have enough time for a vacation until oct/nov!
We get medical/dental/vision benefits but they only cover part of the premium for the employee. If you pick up anything for a spouse/child, we have to pay 100% of that coverage. They just offered retirement but I am not going to be able to qualify for it until Jan next year. So anyways, I am just curious how this compares to other outpatient facilities. Im wondering if working for an outpatient facility attached to a larger hospital system would offer better benefits, PTO etc. This is a very small private office so I feel like we get ripped with a lot.
