I was commissioned on August 13, 2004 a 1st LT, and I am told by my recruiter that I am scheduled to attend the OBC January 17, 2005. I have not received written orders confirming this. The reason I would like them is I would like to resign my position with my current employer at least a month in advance. I have emailed the following to my recruiter and my career counselor at HRC in Alexandria, VA, on Thursday 18 NOV 2004:
Col. Gordon-
1st LT Jason Graham here,
Just wondering when I would get my orders for OBC and beyond. I haven't seen anything in writing yet. I want to give my current employer a timely resignation. I'm excited to go, but I do not want to jump the gun.
Thank You -J Graham
as of 23 NOV - no reply
Any suggestions how long I should what for a reply? Does anyone know who I could contact next for this request? When should I expect my orders for OBC starting 17 January? Any inormation would be greatly appreciated

you will unfortunately learn that this is a very army way of doing things. your recruiter likely feels done with you, and may not be much help. if perscom is not helpful, maybe try calling fort sam houston. academy of health sciences, 187th training wing (unless they changed it). they might can help you.
good luck!

oops that should be 187th Med Bn., not training wing (been in the air force too long already) the # I have for them is (502)624-3947 but that is almost 8 years old.

You guys have been a great help. I found out the hold up was with my school loans. I have consolidated several school loans a few years ago, and the army requested paperwork from the banks that initially granted the loans. The admin assistant at healthcare recruiting requested the required paperwork, but the banks took their time getting back to her. She finnally rec. all info and sent everything to St. Louis on Nov 23. She stated I should rec. orders at about 30 days from report date, and that has been the average (30-45 days).
I emailed perscom in Alexandria, Va to let them know the situation, and they said to let them know if I dont have them by Dec. 16.
Again, thank you for your help.
