Hi guys, I am looking into a nursing career and am really debating an online school. Not working is not an option for me. Does anyone who completed dcccds el centros program have any advice on working and school? What did you guys do? Are there any really good online schools that don't charge and arm and a leg? Please help.

I'm doing all my pre-reqs online through DCCCD, although I plan on ultimately applying to UTA for the nursing program. I don't know anything about the ADN at El Centro other than you will have to attend the nursing classes on campus. In the upper division, there's simply no adequate substitute for in-person instruction. But if you're starting out and need to take pre-reqs, all those can be done online through Dallas Colleges Online (the online branch of DCCCD). Keep in mind that many of the science credits will require a wet lab, so you would need to be comfortable conducting those at home (if there's an instructor offering an at-home lab option at the time.) Also, El Centro no longer accepts the applied A&P classes (for non-science majors), so you will have to take BIOL and then A&P 1&2 for science majors, which can be tricky labs to do at home. Might want to find those with a weekend on-campus lab option.
