Nursing Research

Where does nursing research fit in the day to day world of nurses?

Are you wondering what a nurse working in research does, or how research in nursing helps with nursing? I've been a part of both sides, as a research participant in nursing research, and working among research nurses when I worked as a research assistant.

When it comes to nursing research, we use this research to try and gage the current conditions that nurses are experiencing right now, and how we can improve on our practice and patient care in the future. The study I had volunteered for was analyzing the conditions of new grad nurses during the time they graduated during COVID, which is interesting. This insight could help them provide information to the hospitals and government to see how we can do better in the future.

As a research nurse there are many different types of skills. When I worked in research they had performed general health assessments, the informed consent process, blood draws, medication administrations, etc.

I hope that helps!

I heard from my research friend, who left because the Dorctors were too demanding, there was not much autonomy for him. Just to keep that in mind it might happen. But I guess there is always a good side of research as others mentioned ?
