Nursing Informatics Competencies

  • Columnist

I am working on the 7th edition of Sewell's Informatics textbook (about to be Millers informatics in October) and found myself looking for a way for nursing students to self-assess their competencies in informatics. The tools I found were outdated and not aligned with the new AACN Essentials. In collaboration with other nursing professors, I designed a new survey and I'm looking for instructors to give it to their students (link to survey: https://redcap.link/informaticssurvey - it's IRB approved and offers them a chance to win a gift card).

What's in it for you? I will happily send you the non-research version of the survey to use for your own courses - you can give it to students before and after a course on informatics or your program for an easy way to measure outcomes and/or engage in research of your own - reach out and I will gladly send you the link. Thanks in advance!
