NP program at UMSL or Barnes?

Published

Hi, I just graduated from BSN and I am thinking about going to an ANP program, either UMSL or Barnes. Is anyone going to the school? any suggestion? or any rumor and comments about these two schools?

The info I found so far;

Tuition

UMSL: $298.7/credit

Barnes: $480/credit

Total credits to graduate

UMSL: 43 credits

Barnes: 40credits

GPA is both 3.0 or above

Both need two recommendations

I am wondering if I could transfer some credits to these schools after I take some on-line classes at University of Missouri Columbia to save money...(such as theory, research, concepts and managements, or classes that I can do online with no hands-on skills)

thank you!

I would say UMSL because of the sheer cost of Barnes.

In general, all the schools will accept a limited number of transfer hours but the number is different from school to school. If this information is not available on the two websites, you can usually call the school and get it. In my experience, both of the schools are eager to answer your questions.

Best of luck!

Your numbers are wrong for UMSL. You're not factoring in the extra $150 per credit hour that's assessed on all nursing classes at the university. So the cost is much closer to Barnes (though admittedly, Barnes is a bit higher).
