Greetings,

Just recently graduated with a BSN and even more recently passed the NCLEX. Previous Army medic (name gives it away I suppose)--and just recently finished my eight years with them. Now, job hunting while my wife finishes baking our child in her uterus on medium-low.

So, hello and I hope to have thrilling conversations with you all in the near future.

Cheers,

Matthew

Welcome! Good luck with the job hunt. Where abouts are you hoping to find work? And congrats on the future baby.

Thanks brother. I'm looking right now at all major medical centers around suburban Chicago, even some smaller community hospitals. I haven't decided to look into nursing homes or doctors' offices, but if the search goes stale, that may change.

This forum doesn't seem to be populated very often, does it?

Congrats and good luck with the job hunt! You've got a busy schedule ahead. My buddy had his first kid during our last semester and he didn't get a wink of sleep. It's true, doesn't seem like there are a large number of active dudes outside of students/new grads looking for jobs in state specific forums. Maybe itll grow when more guys/internet savies are getting in the field, good thing its looking like a positive trend right now.

Good luck with the search. I think more male nurses contribute to the main forums anyway- there's a lot more conversation.

Let me add congrats and good wishes on your job hunt.

Hopefully, since the last post was in June, you already have a job by now.

If all things are equal, it is probably best to get your first job in an acute care hospital. However, that doesn't mean there aren't other good places to start. The most important thing is you have to have a FIRST job to get started. All experience is valuable.

Take care.
