Hi! I know that Fall is super far away, but I'm a little worried about the new points system at COS. I quit my job, and went to school full time during fall '10 to get a 4.0 in the sciences (currently in Micro though) to apply (and bring up my bad gpa from when I was 18 and of course I knew EVERYTHING! ;-p ) then they go and switch it all around! I'm so nervous! So, I'm wondering since there are lots of other schools out there with points, what is a typical scale? and what would/ would not be good point values (in everyone's personal opinions of course) for chances? I know there are always unseen variables, but still.... AAAHHH!!!! Although, I did bring up my GPA from 2.02 to 3.54 since I started taking school seriously =)
If I am able to get an A in Micro (I have a 98% in the class now, before the final) then I will have a 4.0 in the sciences. I am scheduled to retake the TEAS, cause I took it and got a 72.7% (ps-do they round up or down?) and I am not very proud of that score. overall, assuming I can keep my A and not increase my TEAS, I will have 70/100.
There's 100 points possible.
5 for a bachelors or 3 for associate
10 for CNA or LVN or 5 for other relevant healthcare licence (Paramedic, Psych Tech, MT, etc)
5 for working or volunteering with direct patient care in the last 2 years from applying.
up to 30 points for your GPA in the sciences
up to 25 points for your TEAS score
up to 5 points for "special circumstances" like being low income
up to 5 points for being bilingual
up to 15 points for have 18 units completed at COS
then they subtract 5 points up to 15 for each science class you repeat.
So, I went to the info meeting to ask the million of questions I have. =-)
But since this is the first time they are using the criteria, they are not quite sure what would/not be average point ranges for applicants.
Any thoughts or comments even if they don't ease my mind would be GREATLY appreciated:)!
