need PI project ideas for the operating room

Anyone have any suggestions for a PI project topic for the OR? If it can include an acute care/trauma angle also, all the beter.......

    One big topic is required reconsideration of DNRs - ORs need specific policies/procedures about DNR patients that come to the OR

    Talk to the NM or staff to find out what they perceive to be an issue. I've not worked in the OR, but I would think something like turnaround times, infections, pre-op meds, documentation issues, communication issues to name a few general ideas. Is there something they want to do differently? Do they want to improve an issue?

    Hopefully this will get you off to a start.

    have there been any incident reports, med errors, injuries in the past year? Any new initiatives the hospital has taken, such as no OT or new customer service model?
