Need Advice:)

I've said this before, and will say it again. The term "best school" is nearly meaningless where CRNA programs are concerned. If the school is accredited, then it will give you the knowledge you need to become a CRNA. Rather than look for the "best school," you should look for the school that is the "best fit" for you.

Having said that, you have a ways to go before you start thinking about that. I don't know where you are in high school, but that's actually a good place to begin. Let me know where you are, and I'll try to recommend courses that you will find helpful.

Final piece of advice: Don't concentrate to hard right now on a CRNA program. You need to concentrate on the here and now. Grades now are important, and grades in your undergraduate program are critical. If you start thinking too much about CRNA programs now, you are putting the cart before the horse.

Right now I am in the 10th, and so far I'm maintaining my 3.5 GPA. People are telling me thats good, but I wanna (& I'm pretty sure that) do better than that. My school has a Nursing Assitant Program where in the 11th grade for the 2nd semester you can take some classes and become a certified Nursing Assistant. I plan on doing that next year.

Kitty, You are too cute! I wish I was that focused in the 10th grade!! Im in the 100th grade now!:chuckle I absolutely admire your enthusiasm and your early interest in such a great profession. Do your research, but Kevin is right, take your time, enjoy those teenage years, you have PLENTY of time!!!!!!

Your high school GPA is great, keep it up, but CRNA school will focus on your BSN grades, that is where that great GPA will have the most impact. And this forum is a great place to start, and meet CRNA's and students. Good Luck!!

I Just wanted to say thank you to Kevin and to miloisstinky for your advice. I also wanted to know if there were any CRNA's or CRNA students that are in Maryland, just someone I can ask questions and who can give me advice and let me know what to expect. If there's anyone out there I'd REALLY appreciate it!

Kudos for having such drive and determination. However, if you focus too much on the long-term goals, you may not put enough time or energy into the shorter-term goals. First things first-- finish high school, get a BSN, and get good grades, especially in your science classes. Don't forget that you have to work as a nurse first-- it might be a good idea to shadow one just to make extra sure that's what you want to do. I'm finally entering CRNA school, but I think I changed my mind about a zillion times before getting to this point. Good luck with your endeavors.
