Hi,
My name is David, I'm currently trying to get into the nursing program at my local community collage. I am very nervous to say the least. I keep doubting my self about weather or not I can make the cut. I still need to take A&P 1 and A&P2, Human Growth and Development. I know I need to get A in all those to even consider trying to apply. I know that if I put my mind to it I can do it. However another prerequ is Psychology which I got a B in and at my collage if you get a B in a class you can not retake it to get a A. So my concern is that my gpa is not going to be good enough. My Gpa if I get all A in the other prerequ will be a 3.8. My other option for acceptance is to go the ACT way. I'm wondering how hard is the ACT and what advice would you give me.

Good day, David:
If your mind and heart is in it, and you are just starting off (as you shared), you have close to zero to lose by giving it your best and moving forward for the dream. As you take each step, and have successes here and there, keep track of them. While overall GPA can matter, to my knowledge, your hardcore science classes - A&P, Microbiology -- will matter far more than the other classes. Your 3.8 GPA is high; don't fret.
Thank you.

A 3.8 sounds good to me! Believe in yourself :) what's the worst that could happen? Many folks apply, don't make the cut, reapply and get in! But I bet you'll do really well and get your acceptance letter on try #1!

3.8 sounds fantastic! People get into nursing programs with as low as a 3.1! You can do it. What else do they take into account for your community college's nursing program? Do they look at volunteer work, experience, or an entrance/general test?
