hi i'm a mother of three boys. i really need an advice on my situation right now. i graduated as an RN in foreign country.but never have the chance to work coz i got married early and have a child. i've been away from nursing 10 years now. i'm planning to take an nclex but my knowlegde in nursing is fading. what other option can you give me. do i need to go back to school or try nclex and go to a refresher school please i want to go back to nursing.

Hi, I think the best way for you to do is take KAPLAN course or maybe where else which provide NCLEX course. It will help you to refresh your knowledge and if you are foriegner you need to pass TOEFL if you are non speaker English .And depend on which state you want to work for .If you

want to work in NY, CA ,Ohio they don't want any CGFNS result but other states are requiring you to pass CGFNS

You also need to be realistic about your chances of getting employment.

I was a nurse recruiter for many years and I can tell you that a candidate who attended nursing school in another country 10 years ago, has yet to take state boards AND has never practiced, will have difficulty getting a job. You need to make sure you can prove you have not forgotten your skills and the best way to do this is to try to get in on the last year of nursing school to do clinicals (it can be done, I've seen applicants who came back to us and we hired them after the clinical year...check the schools in your area) or another option is to take a prolonged refresher course and do very well in it.
