Hello Everyone,
I have been doing a lot of research and I am just confused and frustrated. I have been going to community college for a couple of years now while working full time doing a customer service job (not in the health care business) for 6 years. I have taken about 2 classes at the most each semester so you can see its taken me quite some time to get through all perquisites. I have decided I want to do something in the health care field... I love helping people and I want to start a career doing something hands on with people instead of working behind a computer 8 hours a day. Okay well now heres my problem... I'm currently taking one of my last classes (Microbiology) and at the beginning I was aiming towards entering the nursing program... well.... Although I carry almost a 3.0 in all my classes I am looking at a 2.0 in my biology classes. I received 2 C's in A&P 1 an A in Chem and I THINK ill get another C in Micro which is the class I'm taking now. I know this is not good for the nursing path... I feel like I understand the material but I'm not a great test taker and unfortunately my teacher for A&P 1 and 2 solely based our grades on tests. Working full time while taking these classes was a great challenge because I would only be able to study on the weekends (weekdays I went straight from work to school). Anyhow, I am open to other career paths in the medical field. I am also thinking salary wise too so I can help support my family. I was researching respiratory therapy but it doesn't look like there are many job openings for that field in my area. I also researched radiologist technologist and occupational therapist assistant. I don't see a great demand for those careers also. Although when I research the general topic it says there is. I even searched laboratory jobs but I don't think I will get very far with my C grades and a associate degree. I feel like I've come a long way and although I passed the classes they are still just C's. I just don't want to graduate with a general degree and not do something that I truly want to do. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am open to any advice you can give me.
Thank you
