Need some advice

Hello,

I have been an RN for 7 years and, while I love my job, I want more. I want to go back to school to get my Master's to be a Nurse practitioner.

Here's the problems:

1. I don't have my BSN yet so I need an RN to MSN program

2. I have to work full time so going to a campus is not an option

3. I need an online program that will allow me to take the NP licensing exam when I am done

I have looked into a couple of online programs but I am afraid that I will not be able to take the exam without further schooling.

Can anyone give me advice on programs or suggestions on what to do? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am anxious to get started.

Thank you

Have you considered looking at some of the ASN to MSN programs. They seem to be emerging at many universities. I'm sure you could do some, but not all, of the work online as the MSN would certainly require practicums.

contact your state universitites and colleges and talk to someone in the nursing school office, not registration. I bet they even have info online to answer your question. Many schools are offering what you need.

Depending on your location, many hospitals that are affiliated with universities offer their employees tuition discounts. some offer to pay 100%. I realize this isnt necessary a straight shot, but it might be worth it to take a look.
