Need advice on practicum selection

I have a few ideas in mind as to what to preference for practicum and just wanted some advice on what I should choose.

I have loved pretty much every area of nursing that I have been in so far during my clinicals. If I could get my "ideal" job straight out of nursing school, it would be either E.R., neuro ICU, or just neuro. I would be grateful for any job I get out of nursing school though!

Would it be best to preference ICU/E.R. where I could challenge myself and really learn a lot? OR is it better to make connections in an "easier" unit (such as neuro/med surg) where I could get my foot in the door but maybe not learn as much? I was on a med surg unit for a large portion of my clinicals and was not challenged by the full patient load there. Of course I was learning on that unit, but perhaps just not as much as I did when I was in the E.R. and ICU. Is it better to not challenge myself in hopes of maybe securing a job after graduation? I know many people who have been offered jobs because of their practicum and I would love to be one of those people.

Let me know what you think!
