NCLEX

Hi, I finished my LVN program in September of this year. The school I went to wants us to complete all these extra test an meet their benchmarks plus do remediation on everything before they will send our AOGs. My problem is, I live an hour away from the school.. I'm a single mother.. An to top it off I'm helping my parents out at the moment. I recently told my school that with everything going on there is no way I will be able to attend review /take the test anytime soon.. An I told them I will go ahead and pay for my exam by myself. They told me that I can pay for it myself but they still won't send off my AOG till I take their test.

My job already wants me to be a charge nurse for them (I've been working there for 2 years as a medication aide) but I can't even work as a GVN because my school wont send my paperwork & I already have my diploma..

I just want to know if this is okay an if they have the right to do that..

It sounds like this is part of the process you agreed to when you started your nursing program. Each school has their own set of practices. How long does this process take? Even if its an hour away, wouldn't it be worthwhile to do it and get it over with? Also its best to do your licensing exams just after you finish school when its fresh in your mind. And standards change every year in nursing, so you may be sitting for a totally different test than you would have this year.

Good luck either way to you

Um yeah, they can do that. This is part of your program and it is to help prepare you to sit for your boards. You also used the word remediation... You have already been out of school for close to 2 months? You do realize that your diploma means nothing until you pass the NCLEX right? So while you are fighting the school, your current workplace could possibly find someone with an actual license to be their new charge nurse. Stop avoiding, everyone thinks their problems are unique.
