Hi everyone, I'm finishing an ABSN program this December out of state and looking to get licensure and test in California. I've obviously completed all the prerequisites to get accepted into the program, but I am not sure if some of them are going to apply for the CA BRN. My question is:
1. I took 1 oral communication class for 3 units. Will I need to take another class labeled as written communication or will one of the many writing/english classes I've taken be accepted?
2. I have heard that for science classes, the lab must be in person and not virtual. The only class I took with a virtual lab would be anatomy on University of Phoenix (which is on the CA BRN's list of approved schools https://www.RN.ca.gov/education/rnprograms.shtml). Can anyone confirm this or will a virtual lab be accepted?
I've been hearing different things and would like to know if anyone else has any information on this. The counselors in my program only know so much because of the specific requirements of CA, so if you have any resources for websites or people I can contact please let me know!
Side note: My program is in Ohio so if it comes down to it, could I possibly register for licensure in Ohio then apply for licensure by endorsement in CA? Or would the virtual lab become an issue again once the transcripts are requested? Thanks for the help!
