Navy Interview

Hey guys,

I am very nervous about the interview process. I was hoping somebody could give me some pointers, like what type of questions to expect. I was also curious how competitive it is to get into the Navy. Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer my questions.

One statement, be honest. If you try and tell them what you think they want to hear, it could go bad. Just be sincere and honest and you will be fine. Every recruiter is different, when I do an interview (I'm not a recruiter) I want to know why you want to be a nurse. If you tell me how wonderful it must be and make the profession seem like a wonderland, probably going to be a bit leary of your intentions. Our profession is not a wonderland, you have opportunities in nursing to do good things for people, in good times and bad. If I can get the impression that you are in it for the long haul and be there for not only the patients, but for me as a co-worker, we're golden. If you tell me you want to work hard, you want to take care of active duty members and their families and have a sense of purpose in your life, then we are good to go. Be a Navy nurse gives you a sense of belonging to something bigger than just you, it you want in, just be honest and it will be fine. We need good people and I'd be glad to work with you. Do you need more than one interview? I'd be happy to do a telephone one if you want, unless you're in the DC area, then it could be face-to-face. Let me know.

Thank you, LCDR Dan for answering my questions. I feel more confident after reading your response.

My recruiter is trying to find me a Navy nurse who is O-4 and above for my interview. Thank you for offering to interview me, though.

LCDR is an O-4, I can do the interview if you like.
