MTSU Fall 2014 applicants

Hello! I am applying to the MTSU school of nursing for fall 2014! I just talked with kim and she said that there were 165 applicants. I got an 86 on the HESI and I have a 3.8 GPA. My interview is tomorrow! How are the other applicants doing? I wanted to talk with the people who are trying to get in :) Good luck to everyone!

Hi there. I am happy for you that you heard back, but now so nervous that I have not! At least 165 is not too many. I have a 3.6 GPA and got a 93.43% on HESI. I also turned in my stuff in mid January and looked over my packets with extereme OCD. Who knows maybe we will be classmates. I am not currently an MTSU student. My mom lives in Murfreesboro, but I live in CA where we are originally from, so I wonder if that is why it is taking longer.

Got my call yesterday. I'm in TN today and having my interview!

Hello! I have a 4.0 and an 89 on the HESI. I have an A for A&P and currently taking A&P II and Microbiology. I had my interview Friday and I feel like it went really well, but we shall see. I can not wait to hear back! Just an FYI, they told me that we will know whether or not we are accepted by April 1st. Hope everyone does well!! :)

Awesome! I forgot to ask how we will find out. Do you know if it is via mail or email?

We will find out through the MTSU pipeline email. :)

Thanks for the reply!! Best of luck to you. Hope to meet you next year. From what I was able to find out the average total score of those admitted is 10.7 and above. You can add up your HESI point conversion score and GPA to figure out what you needed to get on your interview to be competitive. I guess each year it depends on what the pool of applicants is like, but at least it kind of gives us some idea. Also, with only 165 applicants this time that will probably help us all out.

Of course! Good luck to you also! According to a paper I received from MTSU, 88 is the average HESI score of nursing students who get accepted, so there's that. But the interview can definitely make or break you. Also, from what I have heard from a couple of people who have applied and not been accepted in the past, just because you felt like your interview went well doesn't mean it did. I know someone who thought they did great but they ended up with a 2 for the interview score. :(

165 is a pretty small pool of applicants. 64 are accepted and 20 are put on the alternatives list, if I remember correctly. So, the top ~38% will be accepted, and if you are high enough on the alternatives list, there is still definitely hope. I'm trying not to be hopeful, but I would be absolutely ecstatic if I got in!!! :)

From someone in their first semester at MTSU, best of luck to all of you!! I know how hard and nerve-wracking the application process is. Just keep your head up!! Cefhcl, I actually heard the rumor going around that Kim was going to call someone from CA for an interview!! I assume that was you. :) Hope you make it in!!

She did end up calling and I flew out the next day. It was quite the whirlwind. Thank you for the well wishes! I am just trying to stay positive. I have noticed that a lot of nursing majors are perfectionists and love to be in a control (myself included and great quality to have as a nurse), but it is out of our hands now. We have done the work and now we just have to (try) to relax and wait it out. Best of luck to everyone.

Hello! I was accepted into the nursing program at MTSU TODAY! I was so excited. I have a 3.5 and a 91 on the HESI and my interview went really well. So those of you with higher GPA and HESI, you should have nothing to worry about, unless you totally bombed your interview--which would be hard because the ladies were really nice and easy to talk to. I hope you guys get in or hear son so you don't go crazy. Good luck to you all!

Hey you guys! I just got accepted today. So excited!

I found out I was accepted on Monday, too. It was a great day. Looking forward to meeting you both next year.
