MSN RHIA Certification

Hi, I am a RN that wants to pursue my RHIA Certification. I was wondering if there is a MSN program that will allow you to sit for the RHIA exam. What is your opinion on going for your MBA instead of MSN? My ultimate goal is make the decision on what types of software can be implemented into hospital setting. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

A MSN degree does not qualify you for a Rhia credential. You will need to enroll in a bachelor's or master's level health information program and graduate to be eligible to take the Rhia exam. Check out the following link: AHIMA Home - American Health Information Management Association

Any Recommendation on master programs?

There is an option for a post-baccularete(sp?) certificate through some colleges. I believe University of Cincinnati has this. They are CAHIIM Certified which is what the school needs to be in order to qualify to be able to sit for the RHIA Exam. As far as Masters level schools, try the CAHIIM.org to see what schools are certified.

There are a number of schools that provide a post baccalaureate certificate in HIM. Once again the AHIMA website is the place to go to check CAHIIM accredited schools for that as well as baccalaureate and master's programs. The AHIMA website also tells you about the various certifications offered through that organization. As far as what master's program is best for you, you will have to decide. A growing number of people are going for multiple degrees.
