Moving to Cape Coral

Hello everyone. My husband and I bought a home in Cape Coral back in 2008 with a plan to move there when our daughter graduates. We are now getting close to the move and I was hoping to get some information about the area hospitals. I already know that Lee Memorial is the largest health system in the area and includes Cape Coral Hospital, Gulf Coast Hospital and Lee Memorial Hospital. What I don't know is, what is the rate of pay for an emergency nurse in this system? I have a BSN and three years experience in a level one trauma center. I am aware that my pay rate will decrease when I move to Florida from Michigan, but I don't know the difference in rate, so it's hard to plan appropriately.

Thanks so much!

Hi I live in the Cape and also an employee of Lee Memorial. I work in registration now and completing pre reqs for nursing school. I think the starting pay here for RN's varies bases on if you have an ASN or BSN and which department you work in. From the nurses I talk to you can expect to make $23 and $4 for shift diff. There's only one trauma center here and that's at Lee Memorial and it's the only trauma center between Tampa and Miami. The volume can be heavy! Again I worked registration over nights and some nights never sat down. Besides those hospitals that you listed there's also Healthpark Medical center and various outpatient centers, doctors offices, etc that's all part of LMHS. Some might say that we have our own little monoply down here... :cheeky:
