More than two weeks

I've received a job offer, and am going to accept. I know, however, that the place I'm at is going to fuss. Do I owe them any more than two weeks? When I moved from nights to days, they informed me I had to give them a month to find a replacement. I found them a replacement and they still wanted their month.

I feel that two weeks is a courtesy, and is all that is required of me. I haven't signed a contract.

But I know my management. It is going to be an issue. (and if the management was reasonable I might not be leaving) Any thoughts?

Check your employee manual or with HR to find out what the requirement is. If you don't give the notice that's officially stated you could lose all your PTO/vacation time that's owed you.

other than the possible loss of benefits I do not see why you should worry about what they think. Do what HR states then leave. If they fired you would you get a month's notice?

It's not just loss of benefits. They can put you on their do not hire list, and it's never a good idea to burn bridges. I know at this point you probably can't imagine going back there, but things do change and you just might want to.
