Micro and AP2 at Hacc?

Hi, I am a student at HACC. It is my first year here, but my second year of college. I am taking five classes right now, including Anatomy & Physiology. My plan is to be able to apply for my clinicals at the end of this next spring semester. However, I still need to take A&P 2 as well as Microbiology. Those of you who have taken these classes, specifically at Hacc (but I will take any advice) do you think it is doable to take Micro and AP2 in the same semester? I would only take those two classes and a math class. Unless that would be too much with the math, then I would just take my two sciences. I know that it will be a ton of studying and I do work hard and am a good student. I just don't want to overload myself by taking both of these vital classes in the same semseter.

I will take any advice or insight I can get! Thank you.

I took both A&P 2 and Micro at the same time along with my math course at HACC. I did fine and managed to get into clinical. :) Just keep focused and study as much as you can!

I didn't take them at HACC (not even sure where that is) but I did take A&P II and Micro at the same time. It was a lot, and it made for a stressful quarter, but I managed to get As in both with a lot of hard work. I do think it was good practice for managing the work load and stress of nursing school.

Good day, luna_:

I'm a current student at HACC; I start clinicals this coming January 2015. This past spring semester, I took AP2, Microbiology, Nutrition and Life Cycle Development. While it was extremely hard, it was doable. AP2 and Microbiology took around 36 to 48 hours of study time per week.

Are you good at math? Do you love science? How are you doing at AP1?

If you are good at math (math typically involves a lot of homework and practice to do well), then the homework via mymathlab and paper should be manageable. If you are getting a high A in AP1 and love science (both are key), then AP2 should be easy. Microbiology at HACC builds on AP1 and includes elements of AP2.

BTW, if you are on Facebook, join the groups at HACC group (you will need to validate your hawkmail email address), then the Nursing group (you don't have to be in clinicals to join). I also recommend the "Simple Nursing For Nursing Students" group as well; of note, there will be various advertisements for Mike's program, but you also have various students helping one another. Allnurses.com (if you are just finding out) is a fantastic resource (first place compared to others).

Thank you.

P.S. HACC is looking for students to help out on the Virtual Learning SAC (Student Advisory Council); check desire to learn for more information as well as consider joining the Virtual Learning SAC (Student Advisory Council) Facebook group.
