Timeline for endorsing RN license to CA
After some confusion with my transcript (I received a letter stating I needed certain courses, which I knew I took, so I called the BON to have the lady say I didn't graduate college?! And my psychology course wouldn't be accepted...I kind of gave up hope I'd ever have a permanent), I re-sent my transcript hoping for the best, and finally received my permanent license! So my timeline was pretty much exactly 4 months.

Timeline for endorsing RN license to CA
Yay! My temp license was issued today! So excited to finally have SOME progress. Perfexion answered my question about how long a temp license is good for, but does anyone know at this time about how long it takes to get your permanent license once they've issued your temporary?

Shady Grove Adventist in Rockville, MD
I know nothing about being a staff member there, but this hospital is near the area that I'm originally from, and its nickname by locals is "Shady Grave." Terrible reputation. No one goes here if they have a choice, it's either Suburban or Holy Cross. The ER is always slammed, wait times are NEVER under 5 hours just to be taken back, and people always complaining. A friend was recently hospitalized after having a major surgery and had horrendous care on the floor based off of the stories she was telling me. I did have experience with one surgeon in 2003 who was wonderful, but I remember that the PACU nurses were terrible. I haven't been home for many years so I'm not sure if anything's changed, plus OR is sometimes a whole different world from the rest of the hospital! Just thought I'd give you some information since no one had answered your question! The area is pretty nice though! And I've heard that the apartments they usually put travelers up in are good too (the ones right across from the hospital: relatively new, very close to many food places) :)

LPNs in Children's Hospitals?
I'd say stick to the South, in non-Magnet nursing-certified hospitals. I'm from the North where almost no LPNs are still hired, and have been working in the South, where on many non-ICU floors, LPNs are still utilized. The problem you'd run into is with a Magnet hospital, regardless of where you live. Magnet hospitals require a certain (high) percentage of staff to have at least a Bachelor's degree, and I know that in my hospital, the policy was that if you didn't have your Bachelor's when you were hired, they expected you to be in school to get it and obtain your degree within a certain amount of time. So I'd say it's possible for you to be hired, especially if you have experience, but you'd probably have an easier time getting hired and keeping your position if you intended to go back to school.

Timeline for endorsing RN license to CA
Just wanted to share my timeline: -Everything was submitted July 26th -Check was processed August 13th -Got an email from Breeze August 19th to confirm my information online -Breeze online confirms my processing date as August 12th, status pending with no deficiencies noted -Called the 800-number today, September 15th, after seeing no further progress. The lady who answered said that my fingerprint cards were accepted and verified on 9/8. She also said that I should expect to wait at least 4 more weeks, if not longer. *sigh* I'm having to push back the start date on a travel assignment I'm trying to go for so I can be sure I'll have my license in time! I wish it wasn't so complicated!

RN Versant Program-Austin
Hey everyone -- I am graduating my nursing program in May, and my first choice hospital is definitely Seton. I go to school in NJ and live in MD, so I was unable to go to the open house. I did the 1st online application and had 2 of my professors submit the online recommendations. A few days ago I got an e-mail from Debra Rowell about completing another application and answering a questionnaire that was given in the e-mail. I submitted both, and I'm extremely nervous to hear back to see if I have advanced further in the process. Does anyone have any idea as to what my chances are for hearing back from anyone? It's just so hard to stand out in the application process, and I want this job soooo bad. Thank you so much for any advice you can provide!!
