Med Surg

Hi guys,

I will be in my 2nd semester of NS starting in January and will be taking med surg along with 5 other classes. I have heard varied opinions on med surg and just want your take. What exactly do you learn? Is it super difficult? I have heard it's horrible from some and simple from others. Just curious! :)

At my school we take medical surgical nursing over two semesters. I really liked the class but it did require a lot of studying. In this class we broke apart different systems/categories and learned about the whole picture including different diseases, the corresponding labs, patho, and a bunch of other things. I really liked the class but it did take up a lot of time studying. If you feel comfortable taking it with five other classes then go for it, but I would not suggest it.

Well unfortunatly, I don't have a choice. My school makes you take particular classes each semester and 2nd semester we have 6 classes equaling 15 or 16 credit hours. First semester was the same and I pulled off all A's so hopefully I can at least do well. It is going to be a challenging semester though. Your description was pretty much what I had expected. Thanks for your input! :)
