MDS ARD dates

you must do a 5 day pps assessment on or before day 8, and you may also make that your adm.a ssessment for obra. then you do a 14 day assessment. no, you may not push the first assessment out to day 10. go to your rai manual for complete instructions.

i am wondering about the ard dates on the assessments in a swing bed facility, we typically only have the patient in a swing bed for a few days and rarely over 10 days so i set the ard date anywhere from day 1 to day10 since the ard date has to match the d/c date, is this ok to set this on day10 since it falls outside grace days? i do this so i can fill in both of the assessments (5-day pps and d/c) excately the same.

thanks so much, i rarely have a 14 day pps and thought i could have the same ard date and use the same info. on both the 5 day and d/c. i find it crazy that i need to adjust the days by one a few days to just to complete this. thanks 4 your help.
