hello can anyone help me please---
I am a new nurse and I just recently got a job at a convalescent hospital and there has been a rumor that the state board might be coming to our facility for inspection. I have asked around and most of the other nurses have not experience being a round with a state board examiner since most of us are new nurses. My concern is that what are the expectations and what are the things i should be aware of? if anyone has ever experience this please do respond to this thread.
I kindly appreciate your response and considerations thank you.

THE STATE CAN BE SCARY. I WORKED AS A NURSE IN A NURSING HOME FOR 8 YEARS. BE YOURSELF, YOU SHOULD ALWAYS WORK LIKE THE STATE IS WATCHING...THEN WHEN THEY COME YOU FEEL CONFIDENT. THEY WILL HAVE TO WATCH SEVERAL NURSES PASS MEDS. (ORAL AND PEG TUBE MEDS). ALSO, THEY WILL BE PULLING LOTS OF CHARTS AND REVIEWING THEM. MAKE SURE ALL MEDS ARE WITHIN EXPIRATION DATES. PROVIDE PRIVACY-ALWAYS KNOCK BEFORE ENTERING. IF A TREATMENT IS IN PROGRESS-HAVE A SIGN ON THE DOOR. CONFIDENTIALITY IS A BIG ONE ,TOO. I THINK THEY ARE THERE FOR ABOUT A WEEK BUT OBSERVE THE NURSES FOR ONE DAY , THE REST IS SPENT ON OTHER THINGS. GOOD LUCK!! :balloons:
