LPN

Hello Everyone,

I was wondering how long after passing the NCLEX did it take various LPN's to get their first job? How did you go about getting that job amongst the sea of other new grads? What area of Maryland are you working in. Just wondering maybe some one elses experience may help myself and others to land a job. It can be very discouraging after all the hard work of gaining your title to not get a job.

Thank you to all who respond to this post.:specs:

Hi,

It took me 2 months after I finished to get a job. I really had to search hard, and daily. My first job was 1 1/2 hours away from my house, and I took it because it was hard to find a job around my area (AA County). The first job is so important without it other companies will not give you a chance. Try nursing homes or hospitals first, it can be hard to get a job in a hospital but you will learn all the rest that nursing school did not have time to teach you. If you start out in long term care make sure orientation is no less than 4-6 weeks, you need this time to really get aquainted with the facility and being on you own with so many patients. Time management will be of big concern if you work LTC. After that there are options in home care, psych, hospice, clinics and many other options.
