LPN Program at EVIT, Arizona

Published

Hello

I am trying to get a hold of anyone who has taken the LPN program at EVIT out in Mesa, AZ.

  1. Has anyone had recent issues with this school?
  2. Were you able to start the Bridge program at a Maricopa Community College after completing your LPN at EVIT?
  3. How was your training/experience at this school?
  4. Would you recommend this school?

I have read a few bad reviews, but this was back in 2013. I am planing to start this program in Auagust 2015, but I'm debating on it and need some feedback from a recent EVIT LPN student.

Thank you for your time!

Hi love2015, CNA I graduated from EVIT in September of 2013 and I am so grateful for the experience as well as the education I received from my instructors. I know that the PN cohort that entered behind mine was having a difficult time with their program because they encountered numerous changes which included a new instructor, clinical instructors and teachers quitting as well as new program director. My cohort luckily did not experience any of those changes except the new program director and our instructor being let go but we were in our last block and very close to graduating so those changes weren't bothersome to my cohort (though we were sad to see our instructor go).

I also know that the cohort behind mine didn't have any comradery instead of taking the opportunity to learn and gain knowledge in the nursing field they would argue about irrelevant items that had absolutely nothing to do with nursing. PN and RN school is very difficult to get through and it always helps when there are individuals who can give support to one another to get through the difficult times of nursing school. I know this information about the cohort behind mine because my really good friend was in that cohort and would let me know of the nonsense she had to sit through. I'm guessing that is why people in that cohort had a bad experience with their program. I can say that the students in my class never said anything bad about our school or education we were a very close group and still hangout and keep in touch today.

When I attended EVIT my instructors really prepared us for the nursing world. We were tested using ATI which has questions similar to the NCLEX. We also were able to experience great opportunities that I know other nursing schools don't offer such as going to view autopsies during our A&P course. We were also very involved during our clinical rotations because we were well prepared in the classroom. We started IV's in our OB/GYN rotations (once we were IV certified 3 completed sticks to pass), passed medications, started Foley's, and someone coded in ICU which gave a few students the opportunity to do CPR.

A student chose to go the Maricopa community college route from my cohort and passed the PN entrance exam with a 860. She had no issues in regards to getting into the school with her LPN as long as you meet the MCCC requirements. Another student is attending the GCU BSN program and two other students are anticipating the LPN to RN program at PIMA medical institute. None of those students had any problems with getting accepted into their RN programs.

I can't speak for anyone else but I had a great experience in this program as well as the school. I made lifelong friends who are also my co-workers. My instructors were very knowledgeable and had been in the healthcare field for many years. I would recommend EVIT to anyone looking to get their PN but I always recommend for anyone to strive for bettering themselves no matter what field or school. If you are looking to become a nurse go for it! At the end of the day you are the one who is ultimately responsible for the education you receive. If you don't put in the effort, time, or focus you can only blame yourself for not passing.

I hope I answered some of your questions and good luck!
