Length of commitment

Hey everyone i have a quick question about the airforce commitment legnth. I know I have the option to get a four year contract. But if the length of stays at bases are generally 3 years, would I be stuck for another 2 years past my commitment at that base? Or would I only stay at that base for one year?

It doesn't work that way.

1) Normal time on a conus base is now 4-4.5 yrs

2) That time has absolutely nothing to do with your contractual time with the military.

3) Once you are within 6mo+ of your commitment all you have to do is submit your paperwork to get out. It takes approximately 6mo to do your paperwork as an officer in order to get out.

4) All commitments to the military are actually 8yrs. Usually 3-4yrs AD, and the rest is inactive reserves if and when you decide to get out. People have been called back past their 8yrs when and if they forgot to resign their commission at the end of their 8yrs.
