Learning materials for ED

Hi. New grad in ED for 6 months now. Getting the hang of the flow, paperwork, assessments etc. Now I'm looking for more education. I would like some referrals for reading material, websites etc that will offer more education about conditions/illness/injuries etc that we see frequently in our department. I feel like I need more information about conditions and that with that education, I will hopefully become a better nurse. Please let me know your preferences or suggestions. Thank you. bg

When I first started working in the ER a few years ago, my mentor suggested becoming a member of ENA (Emergency Nurses Association). They have a great journal that is well worth reading. In addition, they have triage courses, I believe that you can take online and also have study programs for nurses who want to obtain certification after working a few years in the ER.

Hope this helped you out.

Start with the ENA Emergency Nurses Association. They have a core ciricculum to purchase from their website. Also it only costs about $100 to join their association and you get 2 magazines a month. I started just like you and found their resources to be very helpful. Good luck.
