Job interview question

Hello AN,

Here I go once again. I had a job interview two weeks ago at one of the major children's hospital in the Boston area two weeks ago. Just a bit of information, I completed my pediatric clinical as well as my preceptorship/capstone in this hospital. I received a call back and interviewed with the nurse manager from the unit that completed my preceptorship. Today I emailed the HR rep and she told me that they have yet to make their final decision.

What has been your experience... how long have you waited before you received an offer?

How long should I wait before I reach out the hiring HR rep?

Thank you!

I would just ask the HR dept. for their usual timeframe for the hiring process. I can't imagine they would be upset by that question, and it helps you to avoid appearing either overaggressive or lackadaisical. At least you'll have some frame of reference so you know when to move on if need be.

I've noticed that the process varies greatly from place to place. Some places hire on the spot while others seem to want you to jump through hoops over a few months time before they will extend the offer.

Good luck!
