Job Hunt

Hi all,

I essentially got encouraged to resign from my position at my dream hospital because I was not keeping up at my med-surg floor; I have been keepin gin contact with my nursing manager and we are on good terms, I was just lacking in confidence and made one too many errors and not enough progress during the orientation process.

I was clear how my end goal was and is still public health because I loved going out into the community with my local DPH to give vaccines during nursing school.

I was told by my higher ups to stay away from the hospital network for about 6 months then come back if I want to. I very much want to, but I need a job. I currently have a per diem COVID gig, but it's not stable or sustainable.

Knowing that I want to be a public health nurse for the same system/network I just resigned (and hope to return to), I was wondering if anyone was willing to give any advice. I have three options in mind: A. a local pharmacy for COVID testing, B. applying to a dialysis center (Davita) or C. applying to a local clinic.

A:

~$60/hr, ~4 days/week, 32-40 hrs/week, 1.5 hours away w/ traffic, mostly COVID testing

Pros: Pay, temporary, might be easier/less stressful?, might be more related to public health/my end goal?

Cons: Temporary, potential loss of skills

B:

~$35/hr, unknown schedule thus far, 32-40 hrs/week,  45 min away w/ traffic, dialysis (either for acute or for chronic outpatient center)

Pros: actual acute experience, retention of more skills than option A

Cons: pay, potential scheduling?

C :

~$35/hr, 5 days/week (M-F), 40 hours, 1.5 hours away w traffic, RN for a clinic (managing and scheduling, triage, education (I.e. insulin), TB readings, vital signs, etc.)

Pros: actual experience related to what I want to do

Cons: not the company I want to work with in the long run (I want to return to the system that includes my dream hospital as a public health nurse one day), low pay, stressful d/t high patient volume/understaffing

I can get started with the hiring process for option A on Monday, I have an interview for option C on Tuesday, but I'm stressing and really disappointed in myself that I failed and it didn't work at my dream hospital, so I was just posting to see if there was any advice that anyone had for what to do for 6 months to a year before I can get back to where I want to be

Thank u all for your time
