Job out of desperation

Nurses Career Support

Adolescent growth inc offers 12/hr as an lvn but im an rn so they told me they will adjust the payscale but i believe it will still be low. I searched about the company and i saw a lot of bad reviews coming from staffs that they are overworked and under paid. Not only that but there is no quality of care in that facility. I dont know whether to pursue the job out of desperation or just let it pass... I dont know what to do :(

Personally, from just this post here, I wouldn't take it.

Firstly, working below your license is illegal in some states.

Second, the pay is not enough to live independently in my state. If I wanted to make that much I would have applied to work in Starbucks instead and foregone nursing school. Considering the job market it's not like that's not a possibility either way.

Thirdly, hospitals would not count it as experience.

HOWEVER: I can live with my parents indefinitely until I get a job. I have no debt in my name and am willing to live in another state to have the golden "2 years of acute care experience". or a job that pays a middle class wage I can live independently with and have room for growth. I have not graduated nursing school yet either. After 6 months of job hunting, who knows how I may feel. If I was desperate I would take the job and continue job hunting whilst working, but only if living with my parents is possible (because in my state I would not be able to afford living alone), and/ or apply to grad school if nothing comes after a year or so of the job. However this would be after like a couple hundred hospital/ better paying "nos"
