I called up a nurse recruiter from one of the hospitals i applied for to inquire bout a new grad training program.i recently passed the nclex and have no problem with working in the US. The recruiter said that the director is still having a second thought wether they're gonna give me an interview or not just coz im a new grad with no experience and finished nursing from the philippines? i just don't understand why the recruiter would tell me that they're still having a second thought for my job application.. is it because i studied in the phil and a new grad and no experience??

you should look into labour laws where you're trying to get work. I read an article recently that said a new law is passing january 1, 2005 that will require nurses from the phillipines (and maybe other countries, I don't remember) to have permanent visas to work-something that will take 3 years or so. the problem, according to the article, is that the filipino nurses would have to stay in the US for all that time, not working as nurses. I don't know what your situation is in terms of citizenship, but that might have something to do with the hospital's hesitancy. you should look into it to see.
Thanx so much for ur reply rach_nc_03 i called the recruiter once more and told me i was plagued by many local grads candidates. im a US citizen although just educated outside US. They didnt even give me a chance to prove myself that im worth it
Well, its not my loss, its theirs.

hellow ustegrl, i bet grad ka ng uste? well, me too..u know wat i think, somehow im also suffering the same fate with you..
coz, i just emigrated here at hawaii right,i took the board exam there, and thank God i passed, but im already here when the news came out..well, i applied for the local boards in here, but they require the CGFNS certification or the CES right, so i choose the CES, coz i dont wanna take the test, e u know what, they're asking alot, and i've done so much work getting my transcripts and everything from the philippines and back, i've also spent some money, u know, then when i finally completed all their requirements, just last oct.6,'04, they said, it's gonna take for about 4-6 weeks of normal processing, but guess what, up to now, i haven't got anything from them!!!!!!!! :angryfire
that's why i'm stuck in here, haven't got any nursing job yet, which i've waited so long, and what i'm longing for to do since forever! whew! i was just so disappointed and i think i'm beginning to feel hopeless now..my friends in the philippines who
took exam last nov.12-13, got their result in less than a month, can u imagine that? they're in the phil and the results are already there, but me, im here already in the United States, but no action is being made.. we paid them right, so i think they should also do their job, right? well, sorry, this is
long, just letting my sentiments burst! thanks...and hope you, or others out there can say something about this, and can give me [email protected]
mahalo!!! (thanks!) =)
