Nurses Job Hunt

I have applied to a pediatric residency in Southern California and we are supposed to hear from them in June. I really would like to work at that hospital and that is still over a month of wait. Is it appropriate if I apply to other positions they have posted, specifically for the positions in adult care? Or will it look as if I am really not interested in the pediatric residency?

Hmm, tough call. On the one hand, I've read posts where interviewers have mentioned that the candidate has applied to multiple positions and assume the candidate isn't serious about the position. But in this job market, you're almost silly if you don't apply to multiple positions. Most recruiters will understand that you need to apply for more than one position, and won't even mention it. Sometimes they don't even know. When I interviewed for my current position, HR just forwarded the application to my manager. She didn't know that I had also applied for over a dozen different positions in the facility.
