IR/Cath Lab

I am considering applying to a position in Interventional Radiology/Cath lab so I'm looking for some insight as to what nurses in IR and the cath lab do. I know what is done in there, but what is the nurse responsibility? Pros/cons. What kind of pace is it? I need fast pace! Thanks in advance!

You will either be circulating, scrubbing, or doing moderate sedation.

Pace will be dependent on the facility you work for; higher acuity / large institution = more cases. procedural areas like CCL and IR will keep you on your toes, you need to anticipate what can go wrong and be prepared to intervene appropriately, especially in CCL.

On-call can be a quite a bit in these areas so you may want to ask about what does call typically look like and who consists of the call team.
