Interview Testing?!

I have my first interview set up for next week. I have been trying to get a job for months now and am so happy to have an interview. I am really nervous and have a lot riding on this (I've had to transfer my license to a new state which cost a lot of extra cash and also means I'll be stuck with this new state license whether or not this goes well). When I talked the nurse manager to set up the interview, she mentioned that I might be testing on the floor during the interview. I am really nervous as to what this could entail. Any advice for the interview or the possible test?? Thanks.

I would bet it has to do with med-math, dosages, IV drip rates, proper injection sites, safety precautions, etc.

They surprised me with a test when I had my first interview. It was for a Doc's office and they asked a lot of things about injection sites, and vaccinations. I thought I did horrible (and heck, I might have- never saw the results) but I got hired!

What type of unit is it? You should take some time to look up meds specific to that type of specialty. Good luck!!! Let us know how you do!! :)

It's in a long-term care facility on a trach and g-tube specific floor. I've been brushing up on the care involved with trachs and g-tubes as well as reading information from my textbooks. I have worked with g-tubes several times during nursing school and feel fairly comfortable with them but have only worked with trachs in the ICU, which had the newer, self-containing versions of suctioning. I am worried that my lack of experience with sterile trach suctioning will be a disadvantage.

Thanks for your suggestions, I will start refreshing my injection knowledge, dose calculations and other med-math!
