Interview for LCF! What to expect?

I just went through this and don't be nervous although that is easier said than done. You might want to take some questions yourself for them. Remember that they are in need of you and your services and you are interviewing them too, so it's a dance at first. #1) What is the patient to nurse ratio -- now that I'm working in this environment, boy how I wish I had asked this question. It is important to know, is it going to be 35 to 1? 50 to 1? 35 to 1 is a rough number for me to handle as a newbie in the field it's a tough med pass. I came from Home Health though where it was one on one, you may have a better back ground than I do though. #2) How many Nurse Aids will you have during your shifts hopefully at least 2 more if have more patients. #3) Do you have a Treatment nurse who is responsible for the treatments or are you responsible for them during your shift as well as passing all the meds and documenting, nursing notes, etc. If you are repsonsible for all of it, this is hard to get it all done and get all your documenting done too. I suggest you write your questions down and take a notebook with you and write down the answers. I'm not sure about your area, but where I live nursing positions are everywhere, especially LTC, so don't take a job that will run you in the ground. I hope this helps.
